Julian Hyde is founder and lead developer of the Mondrian OLAP engine, responsible for the architecture and management of the project. Julian has been writing database software for most of his professional life: he was a founder of Broadbase Software (now KANA Software), where he wrote a DBMS and ETL engine, and before that was a kernel engineer at Oracle, where he implemented Oracle's bitmap indexes. In addition to OLAP, Julian is an expert on DBMS internals, query optimization, and streaming databases, and is committer to the Eigenbase open-source project.

In his spare time he amuses his wife, takes pictures of raptors, and writes yet more database software.
