The Pentaho On-Demand BI Subscription combines Pentaho’s industry-leading Enterprise Edition BI suite of products with innovative on-demand options to support BI evaluations, pilot projects and production deployments. Designed with maximum flexibility to support a wide range of customer needs, the Pentaho On-Demand BI Subscription provides customers with dedicated hardware and software resources that enable them to choose and combine the infrastructure management and professional services they need while maintaining the option to expand or contract services as business needs change.

On-Demand Evaluation

When evaluating technology for use in a business solution, a common scenario is to conduct a proof of concept. For organizations with limited IT resources or tight deadlines, Pentaho’s On-Demand evaluation service allows an evaluation to begin immediately without the need to procure equipment or install software. Pentaho can provision a system and deliver access to an evaluation team within one business day of receiving an order. Pentaho provides a complete range of service options whether the customer wishes to conduct the evaluation themselves, outsource development to Pentaho to employ a hybrid approach with expert mentoring. Projects may range from solution prototyping, data exploration and transformation through “impulse” hosting on-demand for urgent, time limited projects. As with all Pentaho On-Demand BI Subscriptions, there are a full range of Professional Services available including infrastructure and application evaluation, ETL and data warehouse design, dimensional modeling and report, analytics and dashboard visualization. The pinnacle of Agile BI development, Pentaho’s On-Demand Evaluation services provide a very low cost and risk means overcoming barriers to completion of a BI evaluation.

For business customers who need to conduct an accelerated evaluation, Pentaho offers the Agile BI "72-Hour Challenge". This low cost, high-velocity engagement allows customers to outsource development of a functional BI prototype using data that is relevant to a specific business measure (KPI). A certified Pentaho consultant will load the data into a data mart, create analysis views and interactive dashboards and present the results to executive sponsors in a live webinar. After the webinar, the solution will remain online for three weeks during which time the customer can fully explore the solution. The 72-Hour Challenge is ideal for companies that wish to establish the value of a BI solution prior to making investments in a full-scale BI project.

On-Demand Production

Pentaho’s On-Demand production service is delivered through dedicated hardware infrastructure combined with Pentaho’s Enterprise Edition Subscription at the Gold Support level. Existing users of Pentaho’s Enterprise Edition solutions running on-premise can easily move to an On-Demand Subscription where Pentaho manages the hardware and (optionally) the infrastructure and application. The full set of Pentaho subscription services are available to all On-Demand subscription customers including unlimited product support, software maintenance, enhanced product features, access to the Pentaho Knowledge Base and pre-recorded training sessions.

Pentaho’s On-Demand BI Subscriptions are best described as “platform as a service”. Offered on a time period, subscription basis, customers pay for exactly what they need with no additional costs based on resource usage. The solutions are not a time share offering and provide complete portability since the solution is owned by the customer. Each solution is completely isolated from other customer’s data, users and workload and utilizes dedicated bandwidth.

The on-demand environment is completely flexible and extensible to customer needs. Additional CPUs, RAM, disk space and network bandwidth can all be added on an “ala carte” as needs dictate providing scalability, security and extensibility. The Pentaho software solution runs as a VMware image in a managed data center environment and can be transferred to a customer’s on-premise environment at any time with a modest transfer fee.
