What are the system requirements for classroom-based Pentaho Training courses?

Students attending classroom courses in the United States are provided with a PC to use during class. Students attending courses outside the US should contact the Authorized Training Provider regarding PC requirements for Pentaho courses.

In general, if your training provider requires you to bring a PC to class, it must meet the following requirements. You can also verify your system against the Compatibility Matrix: List of Supported Products topic in the Pentaho Documentation site.

  • Windows XP, 7 desktop operating system (for Macintosh support, please contact your Customer Success Manager)
  • RAM: at least 4GB
  • Hard drive space: at least 2GB for the software, and more for solution and content files
  • Processor: dual-core AMD64 or Intel EM64T
  • DVD drive

What are the requirements for online, instructor-led Pentaho Training courses?

Online courses require a broadband Internet connection, the use of a modern Web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox), and the ability to connect to GoToTraining. For more information on GoToTraining requirements, see http://www.gotomeeting.com/online/training. Online courses use Pentaho’s cloud-based exercise environment. Students are provided access to a virtual machine used to complete the exercises.

For online courses, students are provided with a secured, electronic course manual. Printed manuals are not provided for online courses. When an electronic manual is provided, students are encouraged to print the exercise book before class begins, though this is not required.

How do I register for a Pentaho Training course?

There are three ways to register for a Pentaho Training course:

  • To register online, click the hyperlink for the date of the course you wish to attend and complete the required fields before clicking “Add to Cart”.

What payment methods are accepted for Pentaho Training courses?

Pentaho Training accepts the following payment methods: credit card, corporate invoice or Pentaho Training credits. Simply choose the appropriate payment method when you register electronically.

What are the starting and ending times for Pentaho public courses?

In North America, classroom-based Pentaho public courses typically begin at 9:00 a.m. local time and conclude at 5:00 p.m. local time. Dress is casual. When you register for a Pentaho course online, your registration confirmation email will note the course schedule, the location, and other logistics including directions to the facility, nearby accommodations and any other important details.

Online courses typically begin at 10:00 am Eastern Time and end at 6:00 pm Eastern time but please refer to the individual course for specific information about starting and ending times.

Does Pentaho Training offer online courses in other time zones?

Most Pentaho online courses take place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time (North America), unless otherwise stated. Currently, Pentaho Training does not offer online, instructor-led training in other time zones. Some Pentaho Authorized Training Providers do offer Pentaho Training online in other time zones. For more information, please contact the training provider for details.

How do I cancel my registration?

You may cancel your registration electronically (in the system you used to register for the course) or by emailing us at training@pentaho.com. Please include the name of the course, the start date, your full name and your email address in your message.

What is Pentaho Training’s refund policy?

Pentaho will refund 100% of your registration fee if you cancel more than two weeks before the start date of the course. If you cancel less than two weeks before the course start date, Pentaho will refund 50% of the registration fee. No refunds will be issued to customers who leave a course early. Refunds will also not be issued to customers who do not attend their course and do not properly cancel their registration.

What is Pentaho Training’s policy on cancelling and rescheduling classes?

Pentaho Training reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class for any reason up to two weeks prior to the course start date. If a course is cancelled, you may choose to receive a full refund of your registration fee, or you may choose to attend a later offering of the same course. In addition, Pentaho Training will provide you a 10% discount code valid for any course you attend within 90 days of the cancellation. Pentaho Training bears no responsibility for any travel expenses or other incidental expenses you may incur if a course is cancelled or rescheduled.

What can I do with the course materials after my class ends?

All course manuals, handouts, DVDs, and software provided to students during Pentaho Training courses are intended only for the student attending the training course. You may continue to use the materials for your own reference; however, you may not share, distribute, post, or duplicate these materials with others for any reason without the prior express permission of Pentaho Training. This includes distribution of training materials to others within your organization.
