London, 29 November 2010 — Pentaho Corporation, the Open Source Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Integration leader, today announced that on-site targeting and dynamic ads pioneer, Cognitive Match, has fired up Pentaho Open Source BI as they expand their product and service offerings. With Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition, customer-facing teams can blast out detailed analysis of vast amounts of online behavioral data, helping clients increase the relevance of advertising messages to buyers.
Cognitive Match, headquartered in London, is a content targeting solution. Their technology uses complex algorithms to monitor visitor behaviour over time and then target specific content to each visitor in real time. Cognitive Match delivers commercial results which have already attracted clients such as the Financial Times, Virgin Trains and Yahoo!.
When Cognitive Match extended its core technology to analyse on-site behaviour across both web-sites and online display advertising, they experienced significant increases in the size of data sets which needed to be analysed regularly and reported to their customers. This was a burden on their development team who was responsible for creating a wealth of ad hoc reports for both internal and external use. They looked for an Agile BI solution that facilitated iterative BI application development, was quick to build and had rapid return on investment. The IT team now uses Pentaho Analyzer to generate pre-built OLAP reports containing billions of decisions via a web interface for easy consumption by Cognitive Match's sales teams who share these reports with clients. In addition to this web-based interface for non-technical users, the technical team's power-users build their more complex ad-hoc OLTP reports using the highly flexible Agile BI capabilities of Pentaho Reporting. To speed up the development process still further, they opted for technical training from the burgeoning Pentaho Training arm.
