Orlando, FL – May 4, 2010 – Pentaho Corporation, the open source business intelligence (BI) leader, today announced it has named Joe Nicholson as the company’s new vice president of product marketing. Mr. Nicholson brings expertise to Pentaho built over his 25 years of technology and marketing management experience, mostly focused on BI and analytics and spanning all phases of the software business.
“For over a decade, BI vendors have made optimistic claims around driving Pervasive BI, BI for the Masses and the Democratization of BI, but today’s traditional solutions remain expensive, complex and too slow to take us anywhere near to fulfilling these promises—until now,” said Mr. Nicholson. “With its open source licensing model, fully integrated BI suite including purpose-built ETL, data modeling, reporting and analysis and its new integrated development environment, Pentaho is fundamentally changing how users produce relevant BI applications—at dramatically lower costs and faster ROI. It’s an exciting time in business intelligence and even more exciting to be at Pentaho.”
Prior to Pentaho, Mr. Nicholson served as the vice president of marketing at compliance and risk management solutions provider Trintech, having joined Trintech as part of the acquisition of Movaris in 2008. Prior to Trintech and Movaris, he was the vice president of marketing and business development at DecisionPoint Software, the leader in financial performance management that was acquired by Teradata in 2005. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president of platform marketing at Informatica, a leader in analytics and data integration, during their high growth years and spent 10 years focused on geographic information systems software with companies such as Autodesk and Strategic Mapping.
”Prior to joining Pentaho on a permanent basis, Joe led our recent launch of Pentaho Data Integration 4.0 and the Agile BI initiative, the most successful launch in the history of the company that broke records for webcast attendance, website visits and downloads. He has been knee-deep in BI and analytics for most of his career, and his addition to the team provides keener insight into the evolving market and how our products can align with the dynamic needs of our customers,” said Richard Daley, founder and CEO of Pentaho. “We are very fortunate to have Joe at Pentaho.”
Prior to his software experience, Mr. Nicholson was a U.S. and state government regulator in the environmental and energy fields regulating onshore and offshore oil development and energy production.
