World's Most Popular Open Source BI Suite Certified for IBM DB2 9
Orlando FL. - Oct. 17, 2006 - Pentaho Corp., creator of the world's most popular open source business intelligence (BI) suite, today announced that Pentaho has joined IBM's Partner Program, and that Pentaho Open BI Suite and Pentaho BI Suite Professional Edition are now validated on IBM's popular DB2 9 database. This partnership opens new markets for Pentaho, and provides IBM and its partners with an attractive opportunity to expand its presence in international markets and in the small- and medium-sized (SMB) business market.
Pentaho and IBM have a shared commitment to open standards and J2EE technology, and both companies understand the power of the open source development and distribution model. Pentaho's architecture and portability allow Pentaho to run on all of IBM's platforms that support Java including iSeries, pSeries, and xSeries servers, and allow Pentaho to leverage IBM's deep expertise and market awareness in key vertical industries like Financial Services, Insurance, Manufacturing, Wholesaling and others.
"DB2 Express-C 9 as a no-cost data server integrated into Pentaho's BI suite is the great example of bringing a solution to the market that provides great value for customers," said Boris Bialek, Program Director, IBM DB2 Competitive Technologies. "This combination demonstrates the opportunity and value of open source software mashing with IBM's commercial-grade data server technology."
Pentaho will also be demonstrating the joint solution at IBM's "Information On Demand" conference, October 15-20 in Anaheim, CA. IBM Information On Demand 2006 global conference is the premier information management event for business and IT executives, managers, professionals, DBA's and developers. Senior representatives from Pentaho's technical and business development teams will attend the conference to showcase the solution and answer business or technical inquiries.
"For both business and technical reasons, DB2 is a natural environment for us to support", said Dave Henry, Vice President of Business Development for Pentaho. "This partnership reinforces IBM and Pentaho's shared commitment to open source business intelligence."
