Pentaho and Unisys Strike Global Reseller Agreement

High Demand for Open Source Business Intelligence
Drives Global Alliance of Open Source Leaders

Orlando, FL. and Blue Bell, PA. – Sept 23, 2008 – Pentaho, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), and Unisys today announced that the companies have finalized a global reseller agreement that allows Unisys to resell Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition, and to provide certified consulting services for Pentaho's market-leading commercial open source BI technology.

The agreement grew out of multiple joint customer opportunities driven by strong demand for Pentaho's commercial open source BI capabilities combined with Unisys ability to deliver enterprise-ready solutions that take advantage of open source as well as closed source software. Unisys performed significant research and due diligence, finding Pentaho to be a very attractive commercial open source business intelligence and reporting solution for their enterprise customers, especially those who need a predictive analytics capability.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unisys can also resell Enterprise Editions of all of Pentaho's modules including Pentaho Reporting, Analysis , Dashboards, Data Integration , or Data Mining. Together, the companies can address a wide spectrum of client needs ranging from embedded reporting to data warehousing, OLAP analysis, predictive analytics, and more.

"Through customer successes, Pentaho has demonstrated its ability to scale to large data and user volumes, and address sophisticated applications at the enterprise level," said Anthony Gold, vice president and general manager, Open Source Business, Unisys. "With this alliance, we're addressing the increasing demand for these kinds of solutions and Unisys is excited to be able to offer Pentaho's entire BI product portfolio to our current and prospective clients."

Financial and software industry research continues to show business intelligence as a top initiative for CIOs, and a Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Unisys found that more than 50% of organizations are now using open source software for mission-critical applications. The study is available at www.unisys.com.

"Unisys provides global scale and deep experience in delivering open source solutions," said Richard Daley, CEO of Pentaho. "This relationship will provide a more scalable way for both companies to address the demand for Pentaho solutions in large organizations."
