Product Leadership & Execution Drive Triple-Digit Subscription Bookings Growth
Orlando FL. - Jan 30, 2008 - Pentaho Corp., the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence, today announced record results for its fiscal
fourth quarter ended December 31, 2007. Subscription bookings tripled from the same period in 2006, driven by major product releases delivered during the year,
strong sales execution, and a consistent business strategy since the company's founding in 2004 as the pioneer in commercial open source business intelligence.
Customer Wins and Commercial Traction
- Major customer wins included Cox Communications, Delta Dental, Lifetime Networks, Monsanto Corporation, U.S. Naval Air Command, Savvion, Sun Microsystems and Wachovia.
- The company achieved a balanced mix of transactions including multiple six-figure transactions with both end user organizations that chose Pentaho to better understand and optimize their business performance, and third-party software companies that chose Pentaho to add best-in-class embedded BI capabilities to their product offerings.
- The company maintained an 80% competitive win-rate in direct sales against traditional proprietary BI, including multiple wins over Business Objects and Cognos.
Rapid Product Evolution
- Sun Microsystems delivered General Availability of OpenOffice 2.3, which embeds Pentaho's best-in-class open source reporting engine in one of the world's most popular and widely distributed office productivity suites.
- Pentaho, with the support of its huge global community, delivered major product upgrades including Pentaho Data Integration 3.0, Mondrian 2.4, and Pentaho Open BI Suite 1.6, providing the world's first enterprise open source BI metadata layer with thin-client ad hoc reporting for business end users.
Community Investment, Recognition, and Partnerships
- Pentaho was named to the Management Information Strategies "Rising Stars 25," honoring businesses "that show signs of seriously influencing the way technology is bought or deployed."
- Pentaho was a finalist for the 2007 Red Herring Global 100 awards.
- To streamline community contributions and provide more detailed public roadmap information, Pentaho standardized all of its projects on a common JIRA-based infrastructure.
- Pentaho delivered updated, developer-optimized microsites for many of its projects, allowing direct and central access to source code, forums, registration and collaborative applications.
These results reflect the market need for an affordable alternative to proprietary BI. A recent public research preview from Aberdeen Group cited growing alarm among
CIOs at the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of BI, with survey respondents indicating that their top two initiatives to reduce BI costs will be open source licensing and
subscription licensing. The same report cited Pentaho customer Boyne Resorts as a real-world proof point for the TCO savings achievable with commercial open source BI.

"Our record results in the fourth quarter reflect our consistent vision and strategy, and our solid and stable executive team," said Richard Daley, CEO of
Pentaho. "More and more of the world's largest companies and public sector organizations are choosing Pentaho for business intelligence, and we look forward
to working with our community to build on our shared success in 2008."
