What is Embedded Analytics?

Adding Interactive Insights to Business Software Applications

Embedded analytics refers to the integration of advanced reporting tools with a separate piece of software or online portal. Most business applications focus on a single concern, such as email marketing or supply-chain management. Few software publishers have the resources to develop business intelligence tools from scratch. However, an increasing number of customers expect to gather and have data analytics available within business processes, at a point of impact.

Interactive reports, data visualizations and trend analysis have become so ubiquitous that software lacking BI capabilities can seem antiquated and inefficient.

  • Data Visualizations: Charts, graphs and more advanced visualizations can reveal trends that are difficult to discern from raw data alone.
  • Predictive Modeling: Existing information can be used to anticipate future performance, leading to proactive moves to mitigate challenges or take advantage of opportunities.

In the ideal situation, end users don’t realize they’re working with multiple pieces of software - they simply benefit from the efficiency of the product.
