Description
This position is responsible for the internal audit of Pentaho source code and binary distributions to validate open-source licensing compliance, verify point of origin, and adherence to license obligations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Scanning the Pentaho source code and distributions to identify and verify the point of origin of source code fragments
Scanning the Pentaho source code and distributions to validate the open source licensing applicable to each third-party piece of software used in distributable artifacts
Responsible for providing audit reports to multiple departments listing third-party components and their license types in use by Pentaho Engineering
Responsible for ensuring that all distributions meet the obligations of all the respective licenses in effect.
Works closely with build engineering to integrate scanning and reporting into the build and check-in process
Documentation of the compliance process and license types and liaising with legal councel on license acceptability
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the project team
Support consultants, partners, and the open source community
Simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects
Required Qualifications:
1 or more years professional java programming experience
Understanding of open source source software and licenses
Detail-oriented and principled
Skilled at using internet search engines
Experience with build related tools such as Ant, Ivy, and/or Maven
Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux
Must be able to quickly understand technical and business requirements and be able to translate into technical implementation
4-year University degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high quality delivery of work products
Skilled in navigating the dynamics of working as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a team environment
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using Black Duck, Palamida, or similar IP scanning software a plus
Experience working for a commercial software company
Knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts including ETL, OLAP, and Reporting
