Hitachi Vantara Announces 2017 Pentaho Excellence Award Winners

Today, we are excited to announce the winners of the 2017 Pentaho Excellence Awards! Now in its fourth year and for the first time as Hitachi Vantara, the annual award program continues to recognize our customers around the globe for the most innovative and impactful implementations of the Pentaho platform.

This year’s many submissions were evaluated on creativity, impact, and business value of their Pentaho deployments. Choosing the winners was no easy task given how disruptive the use cases we received were in all six categories. Submissions clearly demonstrated the value our customers across all industries are gaining from leveraging big data, IoT and machine learning.

 Without further ado, below are the lucky winners:

  • Big Data: ZeniMax Media Inc.

    ZeniMax Media Inc. creates and publishes video games for consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. To address their big data management requirements, ZeniMax chose solutions from Amazon Redshift, Cloudera, Databricks and Pentaho. Since implementation, they’ve reduced the time data scientists spend manually creating scripts to acquire data, and have gained a better understanding of consumer behavior across multiple games. These insights help ZeniMax drive user engagement and increase revenues.

  • Embedded Analytics: STIWA Group

    STIWA Group develops high-performance automation and manufacturing software for automotive supplier production and other industries. After implementing Pentaho, they have the infrastructure in place to respond to changing market demands in real-time and to identify new revenue streams. Without sacrificing their high level of quality, STIWA has empowered their customers to increase the productivity of production lines by 15%, shorten the ramp-up phase for new machines by 30% and decrease IT integration costs by 35%.

  • Enterprise Deployment: BNY Mellon

    BNY Mellon is a leading global investments company dedicated to helping clients manage their financial assets throughout the investment lifecycle. As part of a company-wide strategy to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize risk, BNY Mellon sought to optimize their technology processes. With Pentaho, they’re achieving their goals of transforming data into insights.

  • IoT: Teletrac Navman

    Teletrac Navman is a telematics company that provides over 50,000 fleet management customers with key insights to drive behavior changes, efficiency improvements and margin expansion. Teletrac Navman’s powerful user-friendly platform, DIRECTOR, factors in every facet of their customer’s business. With Pentaho, they provide customers with self-service reporting tools, benchmark data and access to data from third party software systems for a complete 360 degree view of their business. This enhanced visibility has provided strong year-over-year improvements in the areas of customer retention, revenue growth and customer satisfaction.

  • ROI: LAZIOcrea | Partner: BNova

    LAZIOcrea is the administrative branch of Italy's central region (Lazio Regione); it includes Rome and is home to six million. With the help of Pentaho’s partner, BNova, LAZIOcrea has implemented Pentaho to better analyze healthcare data and costs with a single view. Since implementation, they have seen a reduction in unnecessary prescriptions and a savings of 41 million euros.

  • Social Impact: Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana

    Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is the largest singly-accredited community college in the USA educating nearly 160,000 students at 45 campuses and sites across the state. With Pentaho, they were able to consolidate data from over a dozen systems into one interactive solution available to thousands of administrators, faculty, and staff. As a result, Ivy Tech’s data democracy is helping to optimize operations with intuitive access to relevant information, improve student success with applied predictive analytics, and facilitating identification of thousands of additional graduation opportunities for students each year.

The company with the highest overall score will be awarded the Customer of the Year Award at the upcoming PentahoWorld 2017, taking place in Orlando from October 25 - 27.
